EAP contributes to Infrastructure Professional Development Toolkit as part of the Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme

Engineers Against Poverty has been proud to work on the Infrastructure Professional Development Toolkit, a new resource to support knowledge and capacity across the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) staff and external partners in addressing current and future infrastructure challenges.

EAP contributed to the refining the toolkit modules and implementation of the foundation models. This was through project management, technical advice, research, communications, learning, web design and publication, alongside gender equality, disability and social inclusion considerations in the toolkit.

The toolkit covers five important themes:

  • Inclusive economic development in cities and regions
  • Planning, finance and project development
  • Environment, Social and Governance
  • Climate, nature and low-carbon
  • Country typology and contexts: humanitarian, fragility, conflict, security and crises

Across these themes, there are 20 modules covering topics such as opportunities in construction and maintenance; public and private sector planning; responsible and sustainable development; maximising social value; financing mechanisms for climate compatible infrastructure development; peacebuilding and reconstruction.

To support the launch and implementation of these, EAP is contributing to three webinars for FCDO staff and partners.

This work has been supported by Mark Harvey OBE, EAP Board Member; Petter Matthews, Executive Director; Melina San Martin, Lead Programme Manager and EAP consultants, Mpho Katjiuongua, Teresa Duran and Line Industries.
