Ron is a civil engineer. He is currently a director of Infrastructure Options (Pty)Ltd and a visiting adjunct professor at the School of Construction Economics and Management, University of the Witwatersrand. 

He is a past president of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering and a former chair of ISO TC 59 SC18 technical subcommittee for construction procurement. His focus over the last two decades has been on assisting clients to improve project outcomes. His pioneering work on procurement and delivery management has formed the basis for not only South African national standards but also for 10 ISO standards. He has senior doctorate (Doctor of Engineering) from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a recipient of the Institution of Civil Engineer’s International medal in recognition of his contributions over time to the delivery of infrastructure which supports social and economic development.
