New countries join the Construction Sector Transparency (CoST) Initiative

The CoST Board of Directors recently approved applications from Afghanistan, Ukraine* and Uganda, bringing the number of countries participating in the programme to 12.

CoST Research and Policy Adviser Bernadine Fernz said: “We are experiencing a spike in interest from countries that understand how transparency and accountability can help drive improvements in efficiency, and create a business environment in which corruption is less likely to occur.”
CoST is registered as a Charity in the UK. EAP have been appointed by the CoST Board to run the CoST International Secretariat.

* The application from the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) was approved prior to the recent political upheaval in Kiev and other parts of the country.
