Engineers Against Poverty’s Vietnam-Cambodia cycle challenge will take place between 24th February and 7th March 2010. The participants will cycle 525 miles through the rice paddies and plantations of Vietnam and Cambodia. They will encounter rolling hills and endure long, hot, dusty days in the saddle.

Three of the brave souls that are taking part are employees of OGP (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers):  Brussels Administrator Christine Glorieux, EU Affairs Officer Annabel Holroyd and London-based Web Manager Llewellyn St. David. They are united in their reasons for taking up the challenge “We work in an industry that needs to give as well as take and we are keen to play our part in supporting EAP continue its excellent work on strengthening the positive local economic and social impact of extractive industries projects in the Asia-Pacific region”.

Christine, Annabel and Llewellyn are aiming to raise £10,000  to support us in our efforts to fight poverty and promote sustainable development. Some of their fundraising efforts include asking colleagues to make a donation instead of sending Christmas cards, producing a calendar and holding a gig in support of EAP. They have also managed to raise sponsorship from organisations such as BP, Baker Hughes, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Nunaoil.

There are also employees of AMEC, ARUP, Michael Punch and Partners and the Royal Academy of Engineering taking part in the challenge. If you would like to sponsor a participant please visit www.justgiving.com/engineersagainstpoverty
