EAP and Ergon embark on an assignment for the European Commission

EAP has recently embarked on a new assignment for the European Commission, in association with Ergon Associates.  The aim of the study  is to analyse how employment and Decent Work (EDW) objectives  have been addressed in EC infrastructure and other non-social sector programmes, in particular the use of employment intensive methods, and how they could be better integrated in the future.  The project involves three stages: (i) collating and analysing experiences to date in programmes funded by the EC, as well as relevant programmes supported by non-EC donors (ii) evaluating the potential for further incorporation of employment and decent work concerns and tools to assist this and (iii) practical recommendations for the future, when direct interventions in the forms of projects are expected to be replaced by sector budget support and dialogue.   The study will involve field research in at least four low income countries and is expected to be completed by October 2010.
